Quran Alone Salat Guide
A step-by-step guide to Salat drawn only from the Qur'an — wudu, recitation, positions, times, and remembrance after prayer.
"Establish the Salat for My remembrance."
1. 🧼 Make Wudu (Ablution)
Before performing Salat, purify yourself as instructed:
"O you who believe! When you rise for prayer, wash your faces and your hands to the elbows, and wipe your heads and wipe your feet to the ankles…"
- Wash your face
- Wash your hands up to the elbows
- Wipe your head
- Wipe your feet up to the ankles
2. 📖 Recite the Qur'an in Your Salat
"So recite what is easy for you of the Qur'an."
"And recite the Qur'an in measured rhythmic tones."
"…And do not recite [too] loudly in your prayer or [too] quietly but seek a way in between."
Your Salat should include reciting verses from the Qur'an, reflecting on them with humility and focus. Allah did not specify a fixed Surah, giving us freedom to choose what is easy and meaningful for us.
3. 🧎 Prayer Positions
The Qur'an confirms three main physical movements:
- Standing (Qiyam) — "…stand for Allah devoutly." (2:238)
- Bowing (Ruku) — "…bow with those who bow down…" (3:43)
- Prostration (sajadu) — "…when they have prostrated…" (4:102)
These are the core positions of Salat, and you are free in how many times you perform each — Allah, in His mercy, did not prescribe a strict number of repetitions.
4. 🕰️ When to Offer Salat
The Qur'an mentions specific times throughout the day:
- Fajr (Dawn) a little after first light 🌄 — "…before the DAWN prayer." (24:58)
- Wusta (Middle prayer — sunset / like orange sun 🌇) — "Guard strictly the prayers and [in particular] the MIDDLE prayer…" (2:238)
- Isha (Evening/Twilight) 🌃 — "…at the approach of NIGHT…" (11:114)
These 3 times are clearly mentioned. You may add more based on personal devotion (as in 17:79, Tahajjud prayer), but these are the minimum obligatory windows.
5. 🤲 What to Do After Salat
"And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying on your sides…"
After your Salat, engage in dhikr for a while (remembrance of Allah):
- Make du'a (supplication) in your own words
- Reflect silently
- Continue remembering Allah throughout your day
"And this is My path, which is straight. So follow it."
Surah 6:153
